If you are interested in a congregation that sees beyond its own doors and partners with local, national and international agencies to serve people in need, visit us- or better yet, visit some of our partners’ sites to learn more about the ministry we share. Good Shepherd is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and part of the ELCA’s New England Synod. Both of these fine sites tell more about our national and regional connections. We provide financial and volunteer support to the following organizations locally: Oasis Health Network, a non-profit organization providing free medical care to persons who cannot afford care; Tedford Housing, a non-profit that operates homeless shelters and transitional housing services; Independence Association, a non-profit organization providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities; and Habitat for Humanity/7Rivers Maine, providing safe, affordable housing to low income families. Regionally, we partner with Lutheran Social Services of New England who provides a variety of services to the poor including refugee resettlement, nursing home care and services to the disabled. Nationally we partner with Bread for the World, a non-profit advocacy and education organization attempting to address hunger and poverty issues in the US and abroad. Internationally we partner with Lutheran World Relief providing aid in times of disaster and war. For more information about current service projects or needs, visit us on Facebook or contact us.
