Christmas Activities in Brunswick Maine

Posted by on Dec 1, 2014 in News | 0 comments

Here are some of the Advent and Christmas activities scheduled at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Brunswick, Maine.  Preparing for Christmas in Scandinavia is the theme of this year’s Advent pageant. On Sunday December 14 following worship you are invited to participate in a sample of the sights and sounds of preparing for the Christ Child. Sing Scandinavian carols and meet St. Lucia.  Following the pageant there will be a Soup/Salad Luncheon to prepare us to go Christmas Caroling in the Neighborhood. Our hardy bunch of volunteers will be visiting local nursing homes, retirement centers and homes of shut-ins.  All singers are welcome!  No experience required.  The more the merrier.  Music will be provided. Decorating the church for Christmas takes place following worship on December 21. Everyone is encouraged to help trim the tree, decorate the windows and prepare the worship space for the festive celebration of Christmas.   Christmas Eve Worship services are at 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Holy Communion is part of both services.  The 4:00 service is somewhat simpler in format while the 8:00 service is the full candlelight worship. Christmas Day Worship is at 9:00 am.  This is a very simple time of music, prayer and a brief homily. Service of Lessons and Carols is scheduled for December 28 at 9:00 am. Lots of good music and scripture readings surrounding the Birth of Jesus. To learn more about other activities for December, please read our full newsletter by clicking on the link below.
